Release v0.0.50
This is our 50th release this year!
The key focus? simple asset management
1. The Pain Point: Asset Management in Construction and Trades
If you run a plumbing, kitchen fitting, or construction business, you know how chaotic it can get managing tools, equipment, and parts across multiple job sites.
Whether it’s power drills that go missing, forklifts parked in the wrong location, or specialized tools handed off between workers, keeping track of it all can feel like a never-ending headache.
Also, when an employee is onboarded they are assigned tools. This is often tracked verbally via a gentlemen's agreement (easily forgotten) or via pen and paper (easily lost).

2. Custom Location Tracking: Vans, Lockers, and Users
In our latest update, we introduced a flexible asset management feature designed for tradespeople who need to track their tools and equipment across dynamic locations.
You can now easily assign assets to a van, locker, or user without jumping through hoops.
Imagine you’re out on a job site, and you need to know where the pipe cutter or that expensive laser level is.
With our system, you can quickly check if it’s in the van, stored safely in a locker, or with a specific crew member. This eliminates guesswork and cuts down on the time wasted looking for tools.
We also made sure that if there are no vans or lockers available, the options are greyed out with helper text like “No vans available”, so you always know what’s accessible at a glance.
3. Image Handling Made Simple: Quick Uploads for Verification
Taking photos of assets is a game-changer for tradespeople. Whether you’re documenting the condition of an expensive drill before lending it out or verifying the serial number of a power tool, our app makes it seamless.
We’ve integrated a multi-image upload feature directly into the asset creation and editing process. You can select photos from your gallery or take new ones with your camera, and the images are automatically uploaded and stored securely in Firebase. This visual record helps reduce disputes about tool condition and provides a clear audit trail for your business.
With our intuitive UI, adding images is just a couple of taps away, and removing them is just as easy. We designed this feature with busy tradespeople in mind – no complicated steps, just quick and reliable uploads.
4. Firebase Integration: Robust and Secure Data Management
We chose Firebase as our backend to ensure your data is safe, fast, and reliable. Every asset entry is stored with its corresponding images in our secure cloud storage, meaning you can access your inventory data from anywhere, whether you’re on a job site or in the office.
When you delete an asset, we also make sure to clean up the storage bucket, deleting any associated images to keep your system clutter-free. This means no extra work for you – just efficient, automated data management.
5. Built for Tradespeople, by Someone Who Understands the Industry
We didn’t build this feature in isolation. It was designed based on feedback from actual users in the trades industry – plumbers, electricians, and kitchen fitters who needed a solution that works in the field. Our tool is not about tracking stock like a retailer would; it’s about managing parts, tools, and equipment in a way that makes sense for construction and tradespeople.

Conclusion: Taking the Headache Out of Asset Management
With our updated asset management feature, you’ll spend less time searching for tools and more time getting the job done. By focusing on custom locations, easy image handling, and secure data integration, we’ve created a solution that fits right into your workflow, saving you time, reducing tool loss, and increasing accountability.
